Our Vision
An Africa where grassroots communities are climate-resilient, financially empowered, and generating sustainable climate wealth through locally led, bankable climate-smart solutions.
Our Mission
To partner with grassroots communities and key stakeholders in designing, implementing, and scaling climate-smart solutions that are financially viable, socially inclusive, and ESG-compliant, creating self-sustaining local climate wealth.
Climate Ledger Africa is a registered not-for-profit organisation dedicated to building climate-resilient grassroots communities while unlocking sustainable investment opportunities across Africa. Registered in Zimbabwe under the Private Voluntary Organisations Act [Chapter 17:05] with registration number PVO 28/26, the organisation works at the intersection of climate action, community development, and sustainable finance.
We support local communities in developing bankable climate solutions that address environmental challenges while generating sustainable economic value for communities, investors, and stakeholders.
Our model follows a circular refinancing approach. Climate Ledger Africa supports community-led, bankable climate initiatives implemented through Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) or Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). These projects generate income, and a portion of retained earnings is reinvested into expanding existing projects or funding new climate initiatives, creating a self-sustaining cycle of climate investment, resilience, and community development across Africa.
At Climate Ledger Africa (CLA), we believe climate action must do more than protect the environment; it must strengthen livelihoods, build local ownership, and create sustainable economic opportunity.
Our philosophy is grounded in five core principles:
We believe communities should not remain aid recipients. When equipped with skills, governance structures, and access to opportunity, they become producers of climate wealth and stewards of their own development.
Climate resilience is strongest when it is economically viable. We design climate-smart initiatives that generate revenue while addressing environmental challenges, ensuring long-term sustainability beyond grant cycles.
Youth, women, and vulnerable groups are not secondary beneficiaries; they are central actors in climate transformation. Inclusive participation strengthens both social equity and project success.
Trust is the foundation of sustainable development. We uphold strong governance, measurable impact, and transparent management in all our work.
While CLA operates through grant funding, we structure projects to become investment-ready, preparing communities for future participation in blended climate finance ecosystems.
These values reflect our commitment to community ownership, climate resilience, and financial empowerment. They shape how we design bankable projects, collaborate with partners, and deliver long-term, measurable impact across Africa.
Your action today can help grassroots communities build resilience, create sustainable livelihoods, and access climate-smart opportunities. Partner with us or support our mission to drive long-term climate wealth across Africa.
