Climate wealth creation is the process of developing climate-smart projects—such as renewable energy, reforestation, climate-smart farming, or nature-based solutions that generate financial returns while delivering measurable climate and social benefits.

We work with grassroots communities, youth, women, vulnerable groups, local governments, private sector partners, donors, impact investors, and research institutions across Africa.

Our sustainable financing structure for community climate projects creates a transparent and scalable framework that integrates donor funding, community participation, and private investment through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) managed with oversight from Climate Ledger Africa (CLA). In Phase 1, donors act as project sponsors by providing grant funding directly to CLA, which designs, implements, and verifies pilot climate-smart projects for community beneficiaries. Once operational, beneficiaries pay service or participation fees into the SPV, which covers operational costs and accumulates retained earnings, strengthening its balance sheet and building financial credibility. Governance is ensured through board oversight involving CLA, donors, and community representatives, alongside strong financial controls and ESG reporting. In Phase 2, the model scales through blended finance, where impact investors provide capital via a licensed asset manager who channels funds into the SPV. The SPV finances project expansion and contracts CLA for implementation and ESG verification, while revenue from beneficiaries supports operational costs and generates returns distributed back to investors. Private companies can also contribute through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding to enhance impact and support project implementation. Overall, the model transforms donor-funded pilot projects into financially sustainable, investment-ready community climate enterprises that generate revenue, repay investors, and enable long-term climate development

Climate Ledger Africa (CLA) stands out from typical NGOs by combining climate development with investment-ready, revenue-generating projects. Unlike traditional NGOs that rely solely on grants, CLA uses a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to manage community assets and cash flows, builds financial credibility, and attracts impact investment. CLA also acts as project originator, implementer, and ESG verifier, ensuring accountability, while its circular reinvestment model channels retained earnings into expanding existing projects or future community climate initiatives, making projects self-sustaining and community-owned
